Did You Know
Male birds are the most colorful. They use their color to attack a mate. When it is time to mate some birds flash their feathers, some dance, a few will fight, but both males and females sing or call out to the other.

The Black Crown Crane ( above )
West African crown cranes are native to the grassland , marshes and meadows of Northwest Africa. They are typically found near lakes and streams. They average about 3 feet in height and have a wing spans reaching up to 6 feet.
The Peacock
Every bird is different and has it's own behavior pattern . The Peacock also called peafowl represents the birds of the pheasant family, Phasianidae (order Galliformes. strictly the male is called the peacock and the female is a peahen; both are peafowl.
The two most recognizable species of peafowl are the blue or Indian Peacock ( pavo Cristatus ) of India and and the green or Javanese peacock found in Myanmar
Herring Hawk
Baltimore County landfill may soon have Hawk patrols to force unwanted birds away. On any given day hundreds of birds gather at the Baltimore County landfill in White Marsh, an unincorporated community just west of aptly named Bird River which drains into Gunpower River and than to the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland.
Tawny Frogmouth Bird ( lower left)
there are some 14 frogmouth species the majority of with large yellow eyes and a wide set beak that is yellowish to olive gray in color. The beak is unusually wide like the mouth of a frog.
